The young hummingbird clung to the twig, his feet tangled in strands of cotton. Once radiant and full of life, his tiny body now trembled with exhaustion from the long flight across the ocean to this unfamiliar land. The dreams he carried—to find a mate, to build a nest, to raise a family—had vanished like mist in the wind. Now, all that remained was the will to survive.
